University of Benin Journal of Administration and Development (UBJAD) is published by UBJAD at: https://ubjad.ng It is a peer- reviewed and research-driven journal of theoretical and empirical nature. Topical and contemporary issues focused on administration and development in Social sciences, Management sciences, Education and in related areas are emphasised. It therefore provides a platform through which scholars and practitioners within Nigeria, Africa and around the globe can share their views, findings and experiences. The journal is published three times annually in April, August and December by UBJAD.

Call for Papers

The University of Benin Journal of Administration and Development (UBJAD) is a tri-annual multi- disciplinary academic Journal of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. UBJAD is peer-reviewed and fully- referred journal published in April, August and December of every year that aims at promoting scholarship primarily in the academic disciplines of Public Administration, Public Policy, Development Studies and other related fields. The journal raises issues across disciplinary boundaries and facilitates exchange of views and serves as a forum for social scientists to crystallize the various problems of contemporary society and proffer possible solutions. The journal welcomes original papers with intellectual depth and empirical content. Research notes, comments on previous articles and book reviews are also welcome.

Notes to Contributors

Articles submitted must be new, original and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. UBJAD will only publish articles that have not been previously published by any other journal. It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that articles submitted must not violate the copyrights of others and must not contain plagiarised contents. Author(s) will exclusively be responsible for the violation of such ethics of academic publication. All contributors to the article should be listed as authors. However, one author must take primary responsibility for communicating with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process, as well as ensure that all administrative requirements are duly completed. Authors name, address, e-mail address telephone number and short biological note should be typed on a separate sheet before the abstract and main work.Upon receipt of paper, the Editor sends an e-mail of confirmation to the corresponding author within 1-5 working days. If you do not receive this confirmation, your submission /e-mail may be lost. Please contact the editor in time if such arises.

Fees for Publication

A non-refundable fee of Ten Thousand Naira (#10,000) only will be charged for assessment. On acceptance of article, an additional sum of Twenty Thousand Naira (#20,000) ($60 for foreign authors) will be paid as publication charges. All payments should be made to; Zenith Bank , Department of Public Administration University of Benin, Benin City; to Account No. 1313674175 . Evidence of payment should be scanned and sent to editor.

Authors Guidelines

  • Manuscript should not exceed 15 pages (double spaced, font size 12, Times New Roman), including references, tables, figures and illustration.

  • Manuscript should be printed on one side of an A4 type white paper; a space of 2.5cm/'1' should be left on the left, right, top and bottom margins of each page.
  • Headings should be in title case and subheadings in lower case; both headings and subheadings should be bold.
  • Title page: The title page should contain a full (but short and informative) title of manuscript. It should also include the name(s) and title of the author(s), and institutional affiliation(s), and address for correspondence, including telephone, fax and e- mail details.
  • Abstract: An abstract of not more than 250 words which should include the article's major objectives and findings should be clearly stated.
  • Key words: Key words or phrases (up to five, in alphabetical order, separated by semi-colon) should be given next to the abstract on a separate line.
  • Text pages: The text pages include the following sections: Abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion, recommendations, and references.
  • Citations and References: Citations and references should conform to the APA format. Only works cited in the paper should be included in the reference section.

Manuscript Submissions

Articles can be submitted by April, August, or December. However, submissions must reach the Editor-in- Chief on or before May 15 for the April Edition, July 15 for August Edition, and October 15 for the December Edition. Manuscript must be the report of original research findings and should neither be simultaneously submitted to, nor previously published in any other journal. Manuscript submission implies that consent of all authors and permission of the institution has been granted. Unless otherwise stated, submission of a paper will be held to imply it contains original unpublished work and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Articles are published subject to satisfying all the conditions stipulated by the Editorial Board. The responsibility for views expressed in the papers shall be solely that of authors and the editors and publishers of the journal shall not assume responsibility in this regard. Authors should submit an electronic copy of their article via e-mail to endurance.aigbe@uniben.edu and christiana.omorede@uniben.edu in Microsoft word.

Publication fee: Authors are to pay a non refundable review fee of N10,000. If paper is accepted for publication, author(s) will proceed with the payment of N20,000 ($60 for foreign authors) publication fee.

Format for Presentation

  1. Article should be presented in Times New Roman and formatted to 11.5 font size.
  2. It should not be more than 15 pages including References and Appendixes
  3. The pattern of presentation should be of follows:
    • Abstract
    • Introduction
    • Statement of research problem
    • Review of related literature
    • Methodology adopted
    • Findings
    • Conclusion
    • Recommendations
    • References should be written in the current APA format.
